Ogun community chieftaincy row: Monarch killed in cold blood, roasted

The Monarch of Agodo village in Ewekoro council area of Ogun State, Oba Ayinde Odetola, was on Monday murdered by some yet-to-be apprehended gunmen.

 

After snuffing the monarch following an invasion of the palace in a commando-style, the assailants also set fire to the corpse in his car.

 

Persecondnews gathered that the fatal attack occurred at 11. 00 a.m. in the quiet community located on the Itori-Ibeshe road leading to Dangote Cement Factory.

 

About three months ago, the late  monarch’s younger brother was also killed in similar circumstance.

Persecondnews also learnt that the throne of the deceased monarch had been in a mire of crisis about his legitimacy or right to the throne.

 

The fight is between the Egba Alake (Alake of Egbaland’s seat and Owu (ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s clan) as to whose right to install a king in the small agrarian community.

 

Confirming the assassination, the spokesperson of Ogun Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, denied reports making the rounds about mass murder in the palace, saying “only the traditional ruler was killed.”

 

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Lanre Bankole, had visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation.

 

No arrests have been made so far.
