“Not for My Dad”: B-Red Says Nigeria’s Presidency Would Take a Toll on Osun Gov. Adeleke

Singer B-Red (Adebayo Adeleke) revealed he would rather his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, concentrate on his current role instead of setting his sights on Nigeria’s highest office.

The singer, who is Afrobeats icon Davido’s cousin, offered the insight during a discussion on his father’s career trajectory and future political prospects.

According to the singer, the presidency comes with enormous pressure and responsibilities, making him reluctant to see his father occupy Nigeria’s highest political office.

B-Red said he would rather see his father continue to contribute to the development of Osun State than expose himself to the intense demands that come with governing the entire country.

“I don’t want my dad to be President of Nigeria,” B-Red said, explaining that his preference was influenced by the enormous responsibilities attached to the office.

The singer stressed that becoming president would place his father under an entirely different level of pressure, with Nigerians from every part of the country expecting solutions to numerous challenges.

“I feel like being President of Nigeria is too much stress,” he said, suggesting that the demands of the position could take a toll on his father.

B-Red also spoke from the perspective of a son who wants his father to enjoy a relatively peaceful life while continuing to serve the people.

“My dad has already done a lot,” the singer noted, pointing to his father’s political journey and his current position as governor of Osun State.

B-Red has previously spoken publicly about his father’s administration and defended the family’s intentions in relation to Osun State.

In December 2025, he said the family was focused on helping the people rather than taking money from the state.

The singer had also expressed pride in his father’s political achievements, particularly during the 2026 Osun governorship election, when he spoke about seeing joy on his father’s face as results were being collated.

“I just want my dad to be happy and healthy,” he said, stressing that his concerns were more about his father’s wellbeing than political ambition.
