Persecondnews recalls that Babangida, who foisted the stop gap administration on Nigeria, was forced to step aside following the annulment of the late Chief MKO Abiola’s June 12, 1993 presidential poll, won by him.

Shonekan spent about 200 days (August 26 and November 17 1993) in office before he was ousted in a coup led by the late General Sani Abacha, who died in office in 1998.
