President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Lt.-Col Yusuf Muktar Dodo, an Academy Adjutant of Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), as his Aide-De-Camp (ADC).

He takes over from Col. Mohammed Lawal Abubakar, who has been nominated to attend a five-month Strategic and Defence Course at Santiago, Chile beginning from March 8 to July 2021.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed the appointment on Saturday.

Dodo will understudy Abubakar for three weeks before taking over.

The course is for officers to be promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General.

Persecondnews had reported in 2020 that the president’s ADC, Col. Mohammed Lawal Abubakar, was due to go on training “soon” as a prelude to his promotion to Brigadier-General.

A week-long rumble of gunfire had rocked the Nigeria’s seat of power — the Presidential Villa.

Trouble started when when the First Lady, Aisha, accompanied by her children – Zahra, Halima and Yusuf – mobilised some policemen led by her Aide-De-Camp to forcefully confront Mr Sabiu Yusuf a.k.a Tunde, the President’s influential Personal Assistant and nephew following an earlier rumpus over his refusal to self-isolate on his return from Lagos where he has gone to see his wife, who was delivered of a baby boy.

When the First Lady-led “forces’’ stormed Tunde’s chalet within the precincts of the Villa, there was a heated argument between him and Mrs Buhari, her children and her security aides that eventually snowballed into a near security breach and free-for-all.

An overpowered Tunde took to flight immediately while Mrs Buhari’s ADC and four members of her police escort fired some shots into the air as they gave him a hot chase.

In taking action against his bands of security aides, the President’s Chief Personal Security Officer (CPSO), Abdulkareem Dauda, was redeployed to the Police College, Kaduna, while his Chief Detail, Mr Nayaya, was fired following his alleged involvement in the violent altercations in the villa.

Persecondnews recalls that Abubakar is the longest serving ADC to any Nigeria’s president having served for about six years.

The schedule of the ADC includes attending to the president’s needs providing security for him and his family in synergy with other security agencies.

The ADC, who was born on the 28th March 1973 at Wusasa Zaria. He is lucky to have a father from Kano State and a Mother from Edo State. He had a very impressive educational background.

He attended Nigerian Military School (NMS) Zaria from 1985 – 1990 where he developed early leadership skills.

He was the Head Boy of his set (Popularly known as Boy Regimental Sergeant Major).

After graduating from NMS in 1990 he had a stilt stay at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as a science undergraduate student.

He later proceeded to Nigerian Defence Academy in 1992 on gaining admission as a member of 44 Regular Course to read Biological Sciences. Col Abubakar has a Masters Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy, and also a Masters in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice both from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
