For a dare, some hoodlums in Ogun village have shot a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and also abducted four policemen after a successful operation.

The hoodlums also made away with two AK 47 rifles belonging to the policemen.

Following an invitation by the head of Aba Tuntun village in Ijebu-Igbo area of the state  that some armed hoodlums were terrorizing the people, police went there to disarm them.

The DPO had led a team of 15 policemen and 35 local vigilance group members to the village and after the operation, they  seized six single-barreled guns, 16 dane guns and 16 live cartridges from the hoodlums.

But after the operation, the colleagues of the hoodlums ambushed and attacked them while leaving the community.

They reportedly fired gunshots at the police and attacked them with other dangerous weapons, a source said.

During the attack, the DPO was reportedly shot in the arm while others were also injuried.

Four policemen and three vigilance group members were kidnapped.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said three of the policemen had been rescued.
