About 48 hours after she was removed from office on the orders of the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, the Managing Director of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, Marilyn Amobi, has stayed put in office, performing official duties.
Amobi was seen on Wednesday carrying out her functions in spite of the minister’s order to her to immediately hand over to a successor.
On June 15, Mamman had for the second time ordered the dismissal of Amobi as NBET’s boss and named the company’s General Counsel and Secretary, Mr Nnaemeka Eweluka, as the replacement.
In December 2019, Mamman had ordered her to vacate her office but in January 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari overruled the minister and was returned to office via a memo issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha.
The Federal Government immediately removed NBET from the Federal Ministry of Power and put it under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, the President had directed that Amobi should serve out her tenure which ends on July 24, 2020 as contained in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr Mahmoud Isa-Dutse on July 15.
It was learnt that Buhari has again returned NBET to the Ministry of Power.
