In Taraba State, a COVID-19 patient, Mrs Hanatu Idris, has reportedly bolted from the quarantine centre located at the NYSC orientation camp in Jalingo, the state capital.

Idris, who hails from Borno, was among the 130 quarantined travelers intercepted by security operatives at the Taraba borders.

Disclosing this at a media briefing on Saturday, the Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the Covid-19 Technical Committee, Dr Innocent Vakai, said a man-hunt has been launched for the fleeing coronavirus positive woman.

According to him, members of the public have been alerted as well as the members of the committee and security agencies about her disappearance.

Vakai also disclosed that the state had purchased two ventilators in addition to the one given by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), bringing the total number of ventilatos to three.

The government will purchase mobile testing kits in line with the recent resolution of the Northern Governor’s Forum, the commissioner said.

So far, Taraba has been credited with eight index cases of Covid-19, and no death has been recorded.
