After 40 days, ex-VP Atiku’s son, Mohammed, bounces back from COVID-19, discharged

After spending about 40 days in isolation, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, COVID-19 patient and son of Nigeria’s former Vice-President, has recovered from the dreaded virus and has been released from the health facility.

The 31-year-old Mohammed has been in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, tweeted on Tuesday: “I have just received my second consecutive negative result. My discharge is currently being processed, and I hope to be home this evening.

“I, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar, wish to inform Nigerians that I have finally been cleared and discharged after 40 days of coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment. Thank you for your support and prayers.’’

An excited father, Abubakar also tweeted:“With gratitude to God, we are excited, @Mo_Atiku. It couldn’t have come at a better time of the Ramadan. I thank you all for your prayers, even as we remain indebted to the medical personnel who have stayed tireless in their efforts.-AA”, Persecondnews quotes Abubakar as saying.

Abubakar was struck with with Coronavirus on March 19 and was subsequently transferred to an isolation centre on the outskirts of Abuja.

His 40-day ordeal, according to experts, is among the longest ever recorded in the country since the first COVID-19 infection was confirmed in Lagos on Feb. 27.
