A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, denied the bail application filed by the convener of #RevolutionNow protest and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, through his counsel, Femi Falana (SAN).

The presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, said Sowore’s bail can only be reduced to N50 million while his co-defendant, Bakare’s should be reduced to N20 million.

According to the judge, “it is difficult to believe a man of Sowore’s pedigree does not have anyone to deposit N50 million.”

The case was adjourned till November 6 and 7.

It would be recalled that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, has granted bail to Sowore in the sum of N100 mllion with two sureties in like sum, on the 4th of October, after hearing arguments from parties on the bail applications by Sowore and Bakare.

The sureties must be resident in Abuja with landed property worth the bail sum in Abuja, and also deposit the original title documents of the assets with the court.

Justice Ojukwu further ordered him to deposit  the sum of N50m in the account of the court as security.

She also granted bail to the second defendant in the sum of N50m with one surety.

Sowore is facing a seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony, cybercrimes and money laundering.
