Following his alleged incendiary comments against members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (APC–Osun East) has been summoned by the State Police Command in Osogbo, the capital.

Fadahunsi was invited by the police following a viral video in which he was alleged to have directed supporters to attack Accord members during a campaign event in Ilesa.

The senator, who defected from PDP in 2025, was asked to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Osogbo, on Wednesday, August 12.

The invitation letter, dated August 11 and signed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election duties in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, said the summon followed allegations that Fadahunsi made statements considered threatening, inciting and intimidating.

“The invitation is premised on information in possession of the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned programme, you made statements considered to be threatening, inciting, and intimidating in nature, and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms,” the letter read.

PerSecondNews had reported that the police invitation follows widespread public outcry over the viral recording, which captures the senator making threatening remarks against members of the opposition Accord Party.

The incident has escalated fears of political violence ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, prompting security agencies to reiterate warnings against actions that could breach peace.

Police said interrogating Senator Fadahunsi will help clarify the context of his statements and evaluate their potential impact on election security.
