Following concerns expressed by Nigerians and other stakeholders over access to the register, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to make the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online.
According to the electoral body , online register would be available through its dedicated platform, https://display.inecnigeria.org, providing voters with an additional means of accessing the preliminary register.
The online publication would feature the same preliminary register already displayed physically at Registration Areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026, the commission said in a statement on Monday, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee.
The commission noted that physical display was conducted in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, to enable registered voters to inspect their particulars and submit claims and objections as prescribed by law.
It described the additional measure as a complement the physical exercise, intended to facilitate wider public access to the register as part of efforts to promote transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process.
The Commission also added that it was continuing to process claims and objections arising from the exercise in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026.
“The exercise would precede the certification and publication of the final register of voters scheduled for December 15, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general election, the statement added.
The Commission lauded the continued interest and constructive engagement of Nigerians and stakeholders, reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability and the faithful implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, in delivering credible elections.
