Sule Lamido, a political heavyweight and former governor of Jigawa State, has signaled a fierce PDP comeback ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing the ruling APC of reversing the state’s progress.
Lamido delivered the charge during the launch of the PDP Campaign Council in Dutse, taking aim at the state government’s track record in essential public services, particularly education and healthcare.
According to Lamido, the PDP is firmly committed to reclaiming leadership and putting Jigawa back on a path of growth and effective leadership.
“Unfortunately, Jigawa State has been taken backwards under the present administration. We are determined to restore the state to its rightful position in governance, development, unity and peaceful coexistence,” Lamido said.
The former governor expressed concern about access to basic healthcare and quality education, alleging that hospitals lacked adequate services while schools continued to deteriorate.
He also expressed confidence in the PDP’s leadership, saying the party had experienced leaders capable of delivering accountable and people-oriented governance.
“The APC administration has failed the people of Jigawa State. Our administration will prioritise the welfare of all residents, regardless of political affiliation.”
Lamido further promised that the PDP would conduct its campaigns peacefully ahead of the 2027 elections, urging party members to avoid intimidation and personal attacks.
“Our campaigns will be conducted peacefully, with respect, unity and mutual understanding. Our primary objective is to restore the dignity of Nigeria and Jigawa State,” he added.
The statement underscores intensifying political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the PDP seeks to disrupt the APC’s political dominance in Jigawa State.
