In a dramatic double withdrawal that threw the Nigeria Basketball Federation presidential election into turmoil at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, Ejike Ugboaja stepped down just hours after Igoche Mark pulled out of the race.

Speaking to journalists the presidential hopeful declared: “They would have told us that this is what they want to do instead of bringing everyone here to make them look stupid.

“I am a big lover of basketball but what I see today is not election.”

When asked by a PerSecondNews correspondent what drove his exit, Ugboaja said: “Replacing key decision-makers right before an election just to gain control is completely wrong—and that is exactly what is happening today.”
