Actress and former Big Brother Naija housemate Erica Nlewedim revealed that years of relentless online harassment following her time on the show drove her to seek therapy.
Speaking on Toke Makinwa’s talk show, monitored by Persecondnews, Erica opened up about the heavy toll the reality TV experience took on her emotional and mental health.
According to the actress, the constant criticism became so overwhelming that she became afraid to even open her Instagram account, fearing that she would be attacked by trolls.
She disclosed that she stopped acting in movies in 2024 in order to take care of herself and prioritise her wellbeing.
“I’ll never go to a show like Big Brother Naija again in my life. I’m happy I did it because, of course, it changed my life money-wise, but I’m never doing it again if I’m given the opportunity,” Erica said.
“I was getting like three years of back-to-back insults. I had to see a therapist because of that show.”
Erica, however, acknowledged that participating in BBNaija had a significant positive impact on her financially and helped change the course of her life.
Despite this, she maintained that the emotional toll of the experience was something she would not want to relive, even if given another opportunity to participate in the reality show.
