Exclusive: Why Tope Osoba May Not Be Buried August 12

Fresh details have emerged on why the remains of late actress, Tope Osoba, may not be committed to mother earth on Wednesday, August 12 despite plans for her burial to take place a day after her candlelight procession and service of songs.

Per Second News gathered on Tuesday that the actress’ remains were still at a morgue in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, as members of her family and colleagues were yet to reach a final agreement on where she would be laid to rest.

A source privy to the developments told Per Second News that Osoba was initially expected to be buried on Wednesday following the candlelight procession and service of songs held in her honour.

However, the source disclosed that uncertainty over the final burial arrangements had thrown the plan into doubt, with the family yet to conclude discussions on the appropriate location for her interment.

According to the source, the delay is not connected to the funeral rites already held for the actress but rather to the outstanding decision over where her remains should be buried.

“We were expecting the burial to take place tomorrow after the candlelight and service of songs, but there are still some issues that have to be resolved within the family,” the source said.

It was further gathered that unless the family reaches a consensus on the burial arrangements on Tuesday night, the actress may not be buried on Wednesday as earlier expected.

The development has reportedly left some of Osoba’s colleagues uncertain about the next stage of the funeral programme, coming shortly after they gathered at LTV 8, Ikeja, on Tuesday for an emotional night of tributes in her honour.

The venue was filled with tears and lamentation as actors, actresses and friends took turns to remember the late actress, with several of them struggling to hold back tears while recounting her kindness, generosity and contribution to the industry.

The emotional tributes were followed by a candlelight procession as colleagues and friends walked in her honour.

As of press time, Per Second News understands that no final decision has been made regarding the burial location, casting doubt on whether the funeral will take place on Wednesday.
