Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke has made a strong pitch for support by showcasing his administration’s achievements across key sectors.
Speaking at an Arise News town hall meeting in Osogbo monitored by Persecondnews Adeleke described his infrastructure drive as unprecedented in Osun’s history, pointing to major road dualisation projects, new flyovers, and the rehabilitation of long-abandoned routes.
He further highlighted investments in education, agriculture, and healthcare, alongside the widespread installation of streetlights to boost night-time safety and visibility.
On education, Adeleke said his administration inherited a poor ranking in the National Examinations Council (NECO) performance but had improved the state’s position significantly.
He said Osun had moved from its previous position to seventh nationally, adding that his administration was targeting further improvement in the state’s education ranking.
The governor also highlighted interventions in the agricultural sector, saying his administration had provided equipment, inputs and other support to farmers to increase productivity.
He said the government had procured tractors and other agricultural equipment and was providing support aimed at improving farming activities across the state.
On healthcare, Adeleke said his administration had inspected health facilities across the state and commenced the rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres.
He claimed that about 200 healthcare centres had been renovated, with facilities including solar power, beds and other essential equipment provided to improve healthcare delivery.
The governor said his experience living and studying in the United States influenced his determination to improve public infrastructure and make healthcare facilities in Osun more conducive for residents.
Adeleke also defended his administration’s road projects against criticisms concerning the quality and cost of construction.
He said Nigerian engineers, sanitary engineers and international experts were involved in the projects, adding that he personally inspected several road construction sites to ensure compliance with required standards.
The governor challenged his critics to identify any road project executed by his administration that had failed to meet the required standards.
On workers’ salaries, Adeleke also dismissed claims surrounding the payment of half salaries by his administration, accusing his critics of misrepresenting the situation.
He said his administration had taken steps to address outstanding salary-related issues inherited from the previous administration.
Adeleke said his administration remained focused on delivering projects and improving living conditions across the state, promising residents that more infrastructure and development projects would be delivered.
The governor urged Osun residents to assess his administration based on its record of projects and reforms rather than mere political rhetorics.
