Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential hopeful Peter Obi has raised concerns over his safety and business survival, admitting he “might not even be alive” to contest the 2027 elections.

Speaking on the With Chude interview series hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Obi highlighted the grim reality facing opposition figures in Nigeria.

When asked if his name would definitively be on the 2027 ballot, Obi responded bluntly, claiming that the current administration is actively sabotaging his livelihoods.

“Not even a candidate. I might not even be alive. I’m telling you. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it.

“Deliberately so. Everything. So, there is even a possibility, if they have the opportunity, I will not be alive.”

Though he refrained from pointing direct fingers, the former Anambra governor described a daily existence fraught with calculated sabotage.

Obi claimed that while the state avoids outright confrontation, the invisible hand of authority is unmistakably present in the constant roadblocks erected against him.

This environment of hostility, he warned, is not a personal vendetta, but part of a sweeping, coordinated clampdown on all dissenting voices.

“They are attacking everybody who is in opposition personally,” he stated, adding that he has even been denied the basic entitlements due to him.

To back up his claims, Obi recalled a recent incident at an airport where officials singled out his vehicle and locked it while leaving others untouched.

When he came forward to identify himself, the officer in charge reportedly dismissed him entirely.

“But I said, ‘Look at the cars of other people.’ And you could see them talking to each other, as if, ‘Who is this one?’” he said.

Obi also claimed, that acquaintances now avoid him in public out of fear of retribution revealing some supporters have quietly asked him to skip their family milestones.

“I have people send me invitations and say, ‘My son, my daughter is wedding, but please don’t come,’” he said.
