Nigerian music icon Davido turned his FIFA World Cup performance into a powerful moment of advocacy on Wednesday, drawing global attention to the tragic kidnapping of school children and teachers in Oyo State.

Making a bold statement on the world stage, the Afrobeats star wore a jacket featuring the names of the abductees alongside the message, “Bring them home.”

The moving tribute quickly resonated online and broadcasted solidarity to the victims and their families as communities continue to await their safe return from captivity.

Footage of the moment quickly took social media by storm. Nigerians widely praised the Afrobeats star for turning a massive entertainment spotlight into a crucial moment of international awareness for the abducted victims.

Persecondnews had reported that the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026.

The bandits targeted three schools including a primary school in the Oriire Local Government Area near Ogbomoso, capturing dozens of students and several teachers.

Two teachers were killed by the gunmen.

Rescue operations by security forces are still ongoing to secure the release of those in captivity.
