Ahead of the February 2027 gubernatorial election, the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as the running mate to its flagbearer, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Forty-one year old Sonayon-James brings a strong political pedigree to the ticket as a Badagry princess and the current APC Deputy State Woman Leader.
According to a statement issued by Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, her emergence was the product of exhaustive stakeholders’ consultations aimed at assessing leadership capacity, competence, party loyalty, and grassroots acceptance.
Commending her track record, Ojelabi highlighted Sonayon-James as a committed party loyalist characterized by innovative thinking and exceptional public service.
He affirmed that the Hamzat/Sonayon-James ticket represents a strategic, visionary alignment of experience and innovation uniquely positioned to satisfy the aspirations of Lagos residents.
The APC chairman urged Lagosians to support the party in the 2027 election, noting that a vote for the APC would amount to a vote for continuity, prosperity, inclusive growth and a greater Lagos.
