President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a minor reshuffle in his Federal Executive Council, replacing two key ministers to boost government performance and economic delivery.

“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume said in a memo explaining the decision.

The President directed Mr. Wale Edun, the immediate past Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State in the same ministry.

Oyedele will now assume the full role of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

In the Housing and Urban Development sector, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has been asked to step aside, with Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD) named as the new ministerial nominee and minister designate for the portfolio.

Dangiwa has been instructed to hand over to the existing Minister of State in the ministry.

Akume noted that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in making the changes.

All handing over and taking over processes are expected to be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, 23rd April, 2026.

The President expressed gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Akume further disclosed that the President assured all cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
