Just in: INEC Registers DLA, NDC Parties, Recognizes Wike-Backed PDP Faction

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expanded Nigeria’s political landscape by registering two new parties, bringing the number of parties to 21.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Josiah Amupitan, announced the addition of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the commission’s first quarterly meeting with party leaders.

Amupitan clarified that while the DLA fulfilled all statutory registration requirements, the NDC was registered in compliance with a Federal High Court judgment from Lokoja.

He confirmed that official certificates of registration would be issued to both parties shortly.

Meanwhile, in a move signaling a major shift in the PDP leadership crisis, INEC has tacitly recognized the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike-backed National Caretaker Committee, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.

Both Mohammed and Acting National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu were in attendance—a significant inclusion, as the meeting is strictly reserved for national chairmen and secretaries recognized by the commission.

Persecondnews reported that the Federal High Court in Ibadan had directed the commission to recognize the Abdulrahman Mohammed led caretaker Committee as the authentic leadership of the party.

Details shortly…
