Two Chelsea fans were attacked and stabbed by Napoli ultras in Naples, Italy, on Tuesday night, just hours before the Premier League side’s Champions League clash with Napoli.
The incident occurred while the fans were walking to a bar, and they were chased by a group of around 25 ultras wielding knives.
The victims, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were taken to hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
One of the fans, who shared a picture of his blood-soaked hand on social media, warned others to avoid going out in Naples, saying, “Nobody go out in Naples tonight is ROUGHH”.
Another fan wrote, “F*** me man that’s was so f*****d, literally just going to another pub n 25 napoli ultra w knifes chasing us n stabbed one of my boys”.
Chelsea FC has issued a statement urging supporters to exercise extreme caution while in Naples, advising them to avoid wearing club colors or emblems and to stay in groups.
The club also reminded fans to take note of the advice shared ahead of the fixture.
The incident is not an isolated one, as Napoli has a history of violence against visiting fans.
In 2023, hundreds of England fans were kept in buses for their own safety ahead of a Euro 2024 qualifier, and there were clashes between Napoli and Sporting Lisbon fans in October.
