Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has said he is considering squad rotation for Tuesday’s AFCON 2025 Group C match against Uganda, despite having secured a knockout stage spot.
Nigeria topped Group C with wins over Tanzania (2-1) and Tunisia (3-2).
Chelle reiterated the essence of intelligent player management, citing squad depth as crucial for AFCON success.
“Everybody deserves a chance to show something because a player who played just five minutes at the AFCON can score the decisive goal,” he said.
The coach downplayed injury concerns, stating, “There are no serious injuries, some players have issues with their knee or ankle, but they want to play. We’ll see after the last training session”.
Defending his substitution choices, Chelle added: “When I make substitutions, I analyze what is happening in the game. Sometimes the choice works very well, sometimes it doesn’t.
“That’s football. The reality is that we won. The reality is that we scored goals”.
