Pres. Tinubu Reaches Out to Anthony Joshua in Phone Call After Ogun Crash

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has spoken by telephone with former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua following the tragic road accident in Ogun State in which the boxer was injured and lost two of his associates.

In the call, President Tinubu conveyed his condolences to Joshua over the deaths and wished him a speedy recovery, noting that the boxer confirmed he was receiving adequate medical care. The President also spoke with Joshua’s mother, offering prayers and words of comfort, which she received with appreciation.

President Tinubu further contacted Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was at the hospital with Joshua, and was assured that all necessary steps were being taken to ensure the best possible medical attention.

Earlier, in a statement issued on his X account, President Tinubu expressed deep sympathy for Joshua and his family, describing the boxer as a symbol of courage, discipline, and national pride. He prayed for Joshua’s quick recovery and for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The President, who is currently abroad, urged Nigerians to stand together in moments of pain and loss, stressing the importance of compassion and shared humanity.
