Veteran Nollywood icon, Lere Paimo, popularly known as Baba Eda or Eda Onile Ola, has debunked widespread rumours claiming he passed away on Saturday morning.

Reports had circulated earlier in the day alleging that the 85-year-old actor had died, sparking panic among fans and within the Yoruba movie industry.

However, the seasoned actor wasted no time in dispelling the misinformation, releasing a video to prove that he is alive, healthy and surrounded by loved ones.

In the video, Baba Eda appeared cheerful, engaging warmly with family members and close associates who joined him to refute the false news.

Speaking in the video obtained by Persecondnews, Baba Eda said he was shocked to see rumours of his death spreading online.

“I woke up this morning to people calling me and crying, saying they heard that I am gone,” he said.

He stressed that the public must verify sensitive information before sharing.

“Please, stop spreading what you don’t know. If you hear anything about me, ask questions and get clarity first,” the veteran actor warned.

Reassuring fans of his wellbeing, the actor appeared calm and confident in the clip.

“As you can all see, I am alive, healthy, and surrounded by my family. Nothing has happened to me. I am fine,” he added.

Clad in a vibrant green Ankara outfit and adorned with red beads on his neck and wrist, the legendary thespian looked strong and regal as he spoke.

Lere Paimo, known for his iconic roles in Yoruba classics, remains one of Nollywood’s most respected veterans, with a career spanning decades and a legacy that continues to inspire new generations of actors.
