Nigeria’s Super Falcons, the 10-time African champions, will launch their WAFCON title defense and 2027 Women’s World Cup qualification bid with a training camp in Mohammedia, Morocco, beginning from July 15.
The one-week camp will unfold in the Atlantic coastal port city of Mohammedia, famed for its scenic sandy beaches including Sablettes, Manesmane and Monica Beach.
The picturesque venue will serve as the team’s final training base ahead of the expanded, 16-team tournament kicking off on July 26.
Persecondnews reports that head coach Justine Madugu will use the camp to sharpen the squad after a series of warm-up games.
The Super Falcons recently played Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses before facing Senegal in two international friendlies in June in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
Once the Mohammedia camp ends, the team will travel about 44 minutes by road to Rabat as the Moroccan capital will host Nigeria throughout the group stage.
Drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi, the defending champions will play every group fixture in Rabat according to the CAF schedule.
Nigeria opens against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28 at Al Madina Stadium, then meets Zambia on Saturday, August 1 at the same venue, before closing the group against Egypt on Wednesday, August 5 at Olympic Stadium.
WAFCON 2026 doubles as the African qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the top four teams earning automatic spots at the global finals.
As the only African nation to have appeared in every FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nigeria aims to preserve that record.
The team hopes to secure another qualification by reaching the semi-finals once again in Morocco.
