Breaking: AFCON 2025: Nigeria Stun Tunisia 3-2, Secure Round of 16 Spot

Nigeria has secured a spot in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday night.

The Super Eagles entered the match with momentum following a hard-fought 2-1 win against Tanzania in their opener, reports Persecondnews.

Knowing that another three points would grant them command of Group C, Nigeria delivered a decisive performance against the Carthage Eagles, who were themselves looking to build on a dominant 3-0 win over Uganda.

Victor Osimhen opened the scoring with a powerful header before the halftime whistle.

The lead was then extended by Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman, putting Eric Chelle’s squad in a commanding position.

Despite a late resurgence from Tunisia—marked by a Montassar Talbi goal and a last-minute penalty from Ali Al-Abdi—Nigeria held on for the win.

With this result, Nigeria sits at the top of the group with a perfect six points, while Tunisia remains in second place with three.
