President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday praised Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for what he described as outstanding, people-focused investments in education, healthcare and transportation that are steadily improving lives across the state.
The President, who arrived Maiduguri as part of a three-state tour, commissioned the international wing and VIP extension of the Muhammadu Buhari Airport, alongside electric vehicles, intra-state buses, tricycles, and three newly built model primary, junior secondary and senior secondary schools.

“I am commissioning these schools to the glory of God and the continuous education of our children,” Tinubu said, commending Zulum’s sustained focus on human capital development.
Beyond official engagements, the visit also featured a strong cultural moment as the President participated in the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former governor Ali Modu Sheriff. In line with Kanuri tradition, Tinubu stood in as father of the groom, while Governor Zulum received the bride price as father of the bride.
The ceremony, hosted by the Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi at the Maiduguri Central Mosque, was attended by several governors, ministers and lawmakers.
President Tinubu departed Maiduguri for Bauchi State later in the afternoon, concluding a visit that blended governance, development and cultural symbolism.
