The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has expressed deep outrage following the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, and the simultaneous killing of the school’s Vice Principal.

She conveyed her strong dissatisfaction with the incident on Wednesday through a post on her official Instagram account.

The post reads: “ This grievous attack on innocent schoolchildren is unacceptable and a cruel assault on the rights, safety, and aspirations of young girls”

Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the incident as heartbreaking and personally devastating, noting that no family should ever endure such pain and no educator should lose their life while serving the nation.

She extended her sympathy to the parents, teachers, and the entire Maga community as they grapple with this tragic event.

The Minister expressed confidence in the efforts of security agencies who are working tirelessly to locate the missing girls and ensure their safe return, adding that those responsible must be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim said: “ The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs will continue to monitor developments closely and support all efforts aimed at safeguarding the welfare of the affected students and their families”.

She reaffirmed that every girl in Nigeria deserves protection, opportunity, and peace, stressing that the nation stands united against all forms of violence targeting children.
