Nigeria’s Super Eagles transformed a tense 1–1 draw in regulation time into a commanding 4–1 victory over Gabon following a thrilling extra-time session at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

This win propels the Eagles into the playoff final on Sunday at 8 p.m., bringing them one decisive step closer to a possible return to the World Cup in Morocco.

The drama began when Akor Adams broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, but Gabon’s Mario Lemina quickly equalized in the 89th, forcing the match into extra time.

The tie was swiftly broken in the additional period when Chidera Ejuke netted Nigeria’s second goal in the 97th minute.

Victor Osimhen then sealed the comeback, scoring a brace the first in the 102nd minute and the second in the 109th to make it 4‑1 and send the Nigerian fans into raptures.

Persecondnews reports that Osimhen’s double was his 31st goal in 44 appearances for the Super Eagles, keeping him six short of Rashidi Yekini’s all‑time record.

The Galatasaray hitman performance has reignited hopes of Nigeria qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with the team now eyeing a win in the Sunday final against either Cameroon or DR Congo.
