With just two weeks to go, anticipation is reaching a fever pitch as Nigeria’s capital prepares to host the third edition of the National Para Sports Games.

In a statement released on Friday, Kola Daniel, Special Assistant on Media to the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), confirmed that the Commission is spearheading the organization of the prestigious event.

The Games are scheduled to take place from March 26 to April 3, 2026, at the iconic Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

“Athletes numbering in the thousands will converge on the venue, representing all 36 states of the federation along with the Federal Capital Territory, in what has become the country’s premier showcase for para-sports talent,” he said.

Persecondnews reports that, firmly established as Nigeria’s biggest stage for competitors with disabilities, the Games continue to serve as a vital stepping stone for identifying and nurturing athletes capable of flying the national flag at major international para competitions across Africa and beyond.

The statement added: “A broad spectrum of disciplines will be contested, ranging from Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting and Para Swimming to Para Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting Volleyball, Para Taekwondo, Para Cycling and Amputee Football, with several additional events also lined up.

“Through this initiative, the National Sports Commission is demonstrating its firm dedication to fostering inclusive sports growth, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive meaningful platforms to display their abilities on a truly national level.”

As the opening ceremony draws near, training camps are operating at full capacity while officials and support teams nationwide fine-tune every detail of logistics and planning to guarantee a seamless and memorable experience.
