The Lagos State Police Command has declared human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, wanted for allegedly planning to incite public disorder and obstruct major roads in the state.

Police Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh made the announcement on Monday, accusing Sowore of coming to Lagos to instigate public disturbance over the demolition of buildings in Oworonshoki community.

“Anyone attempting to cause disturbance or block our roads will face the full weight of the law,”Jimoh warned.

According to him, intelligence reports indicate plans by Sowore and his associates to stage demonstrations at strategic locations, including the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate, and Freedom Park.

Persecondnews reports that police had earlier deployed officers to disperse protesters, firing teargas canisters at those demonstrating against the demolitions, claiming a subsisting court order had restrained Lagos State Government.

Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and the Spaces for Change (S4C) had condemned the midnight demolitions carried out by the government.

Falana insisted that a court order had restrained the government against the demolition, adding that ministers, commissioners or officials had no authority under the Constitution to demolish houses of people without court order.
