Super Eagles are set to face crucial matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic on Friday in their bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria currently sits in third position in Group C with 11 points, three points behind leaders – Benin and South Africa.
“We’re optimistic, and we’re always going to fight till the end,” Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong said, emphasizing the team’s determination to achieve their objective.
“We believe and we’re never going to stop believing,” he added, highlighting the team’s focus on the upcoming matches.
The team’s focus is currently on the match against Lesotho on Friday, with Troost-Ekong stating, “Our focus now is on Lesotho. The boys are in camp, focused, and the spirit is high.”
Persecondnews reports that the team will need to win both their remaining matches and hope for favourable results elsewhere to qualify for the World Cup.
Nigeria’s path to qualification is challenging, but Troost-Ekong remains positive, saying, “We have to win this game. We are very optimistic and focused on the game on Friday.”
