Drug trafficking: ‘Warri Kinsman’, accomplice jailed 10 years

A Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted and sentenced two notorious drug kingpins, Ajetsibo Emami (37), known as ‘Warri Kinsman’, and Solomon Akpomuai (51), to a combined total of 10 years’ imprisonment.

According to Persecondnews, Emami was apprehended in Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

This came after NDLEA operatives successfully dismantled his drug trafficking network in a three-day operation that also resulted in the arrest of three additional suspects.

The operation yielded a significant recovery: 24 jumbo bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, a cannabis strain weighing 414.2 kilograms.

The bust followed credible intelligence on his attempt to move the shipment to the Lekki area of Lagos, from where it was to be distributed to other parts of the state and across the country.

According to a statement from NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi, given to Persecondnews on Tuesday, August 19, Emami was subsequently arraigned before Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court 8, Lagos, on charge number FHC/L/636C/2025, relating to dealing in illicit drugs.

In his ruling delivered on Monday, August 18, Justice Dipeolu convicted him on the one-count charge filed against him by NDLEA prosecutor ACN Buhari Shuaibu Abdullahi and sentenced him to six years’ imprisonment with an option of N50 million in lieu of jail.

In his case, Solomon Akpomuai was first arrested by officers of the Customs Service along the Shagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway with 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis, on June 3, and transferred to the NDLEA on June 16.

He was subsequently arraigned and charged under number FHC/L/635C before Justice Dipeolu for trafficking illicit drugs in a large commercial quantity.

Also delivering his judgment on the case, Justice Dipeolu convicted and sentenced Akpomuai to four years’ imprisonment with an option of a N50 million fine.

Reacting, the NDLEA Chairman/CEO, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, described the convictions as an indication that Nigeria will soon surmount the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, thanks to the positive outcomes of the agency’s balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.

He commended the judiciary, NDLEA officers involved in the investigation and prosecution of the cases, as well as other stakeholders, for their commitment to the cause of a drug-free country.
