Following their thrilling 3-2 victory over hosts Morocco in Rabat on Saturday night, President Bola Tinubu has pledged to honor Nigeria’s Super Falcons for securing their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

Persecondnews reports that this hard-fought win further solidifies Nigeria’s dominance in continental women’s football.

An excited President Tinubu connected with the jubilant team via video call shortly after their triumph, conveying the nation’s profound appreciation and pride.

The call was received by the players, coaches, and sports officials, including the National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, and Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to the President.

Other high-ranking government officials present during the celebration in Rabat included Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, and Minister of State for Finance, Doris Anite.

President Tinubu lauded the team’s resilience, describing their performance as both inspirational and a significant morale booster for the nation.

‎”We are very proud of you, the entire nation is proud of you, you lifted our spirits, you are a pride to your generation and we are all very happy.”

‎”You will be celebrated and I congratulate all the coaches and the management of the team, including the ministers and officials there.”

Tinubu specifically praised Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and the entire team for their skillful and determined leadership throughout the tournament, a clear indication that he had been closely following their matches.

Persecondnews also reports that following the call, the players erupted in jubilation, passionately singing the national anthem and offering three thunderous “Gbosa!” cheers for the President.
