To further enhance security in Nigeria’s capital, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Security Services Commanders and the FCT Administration’s Director of Security, Mr. Damy Gwary, held a strategic security brain storming session at the FCT Police Command, Abuja.
The purpose was to evaluate the progress and impact of ‘Operation Sweep’.
‘Operation Sweep’ is a coordinated, multi-agency initiative designed to combat crime, improve intelligence sharing, and strengthen joint enforcement efforts across the FCT.

The meeting saw attendance from various FCT heads of security agencies, including the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army, FCT Police Commissioner Adewale Ajao, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.
According to a statement shared by SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, the discussions centered on evaluating field reports, addressing operational challenges, and developing proactive strategies to ensure the safety and security of all FCT residents.

Persecondnews recalls that the operation, launched in line with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s directive, has apprehended 210 beggars, including 80 men, 58 women, and 72 children, within its first three days.
The FCTA’s Acting Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Gloria Onwuka, told journalists on Friday, July 11, that scavengers, ‘one chance’ syndicate members, and other apprehended criminals were in police custody, while the beggars, apprehended in various locations, were being profiled for evacuation to their respective states.
