Following a recent confrontation at Lagos Airport, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has intervened in the dispute between Air Peace and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Taking to his verified X handle on Friday, Keyamo confirmed he’s been in direct contact with both parties involved.
He also emphasized that he’s instructed aviation agencies to refrain from drawing early conclusions.
“I have directed all aviation agencies to exercise restraint and adhere to the principle of hearing all sides before drawing conclusions,” the minister said.
Amid escalating public tensions between the two parties, Keyamo called for calm and urged both sides to refrain from further recriminations.
He also instructed a comprehensive investigation into the incident, directing the relevant authorities to gather all available evidence and submit a report to his office.
He also said: “This matter will be handled thoroughly and decisively. The outcome will help guide future conduct in similar situations.”
Persecondnews recalls that Oshiomhole and Air Peace officials had been embroiled in a dispute over allegations of extortion targeting Nigerian passengers.
The situation escalated when the senator allegedly missed his flight, which he attributed to racketeering by airline staff.
However, Air Peace countered that Oshiomhole arrived late at the airport.
The senator claimed he witnessed airline staff prioritising passengers who arrived after him, with around 20 to 30 others facing similar treatment.
Oshiomhole had alleged that Air Peace staff members demanded an additional N109,100 to reschedule these passengers onto an 8:30 am flight.
