The Super Falcons of Nigeria have secured a convincing 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in a friendly match played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored a brace, netting her goals in the 26th and 43rd minutes of the game.

The match was marked by bright intensity, with both teams displaying sharp passing sequences and launching attacks.

Ajibade’s penalty goal in the 26th minute gave Nigeria a deserved lead, and she doubled the lead just before halftime with a well-taken goal assisted by Rinsola Babajide.

The Super Falcons maintained their dominance in the second half, confidently controlling the ball and creating scoring opportunities.

Coach Justin Madugu appreciated the players for their performance, saying, “I appreciate the players for the performance. It is still work in progress to our preparation. We would have appreciated the opportunity of playing more friendly matches.

“We have to make do with what we have and get the girls prepared.”

Madugu also emphasized the importance of making Nigerians happy, saying, “We must not make excuses. We must make Nigerians happy.”

Also, Captain Rasheedat Ajibade expressed her gratitude for an injury-free match, saying, “It is an honour to have scored two goals. The supporters too were fantastic.”

The Super Falcons’ victory demonstrates their superiority over their Cameroonian counterparts, with Nigeria recording 15 victories in 21 meetings.

The friendly match was part of the Super Falcons’ preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they will aim for a 10th triumph in the competition.
