Portable Returns to Studio with ‘Oni Reason’ After Osupa Legal Drama

1.2k

Street-hop sensation Portable is once again channeling his energy into what he knows best — making music that mirrors the chaotic rhythm of his life.

Just days after his release from detention, the controversial artist has returned to the studio with a new track that seems to chronicle his latest chapter of trials and triumph.
The singer, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, took to Instagram to share a snippet of his new song titled Oni Reason. In his typical style,

Portable blends street lingo with personal testimony, hinting at recent events that made headlines across the country.

“Oni Reason,” which loosely translates to “He Has A Reason,” appears to serve as Portable’s response to the legal drama that briefly derailed his momentum.

With lyrics that allude to betrayal, survival, and divine direction, the song reflects the embattled artist’s belief that his story is still being written by a higher power.

His return to music comes after a turbulent encounter with Fuji legend King Saheed Osupa.

Portable was arrested in Kwara State following a criminal defamation petition reportedly filed by the Fuji icon.

The fallout stemmed from a social media post where Portable made unflattering comments about Osupa, which many fans considered disrespectful.
The clash with Osupa sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans defending the veteran Fuji musician’s decision to seek legal redress.

Others viewed the matter as an extension of Portable’s long-standing tendency to stir controversy and provoke attention, regardless of the consequences.

Portable’s arrest and subsequent detention generated mixed emotions.

While his supporters called for his release and argued that his style was simply part of his unpredictable brand, critics insisted that Portable had crossed a line and needed to face the music — both literally and legally.

After spending some time in police custody, Portable was released, and many expected him to lay low for a while.

But true to form, he’s chosen instead to express himself through his art. With “Oni Reason,” he appears to be reclaiming his narrative in the only way he knows how — raw, unfiltered, and full of emotion.

The teaser video shared on his Instagram page showed Portable pacing in the studio, headphones on, visibly animated as he sang about divine grace and surviving adversity.

“Wetin I see, I no fit talk finish,” he sings in Yoruba, suggesting that the full story of his ordeal is too heavy for words alone.

Fans flooded the comment section with messages of encouragement and excitement, praising his resilience and praising his ability to turn pain into creativity.

“You’re blessed beyond your enemies,” one follower wrote. “Only God dey run your matter,” another wrote.

While neither Portable nor King Saheed Osupa has made any further public comment on the issue since the singer’s release, observers believe that the dispute has left a mark on both men’s reputations.

For Osupa, it signaled a willingness to protect his legacy. For Portable, it was another chapter in a career defined by turbulence and survival.
