Breaking: Reps pass tax reform bills

The long-awaited passage of the highly contentious tax reform bills transmitted to the National Assembly in October 2024 by President Bola Tinubu has been passed by the House of Representatives.

The marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to reform Nigeria’s tax system.

Persecondnews recalls that the House had on Thursday last week, considered and approved the report of the House Committee on Finance which made some recommendations, particularly in controversial areas such as the Value Added Tax and inheritance tax.

While awaiting Senate’s passage and concurrence, the proposed tax reform bills are expected to be sent to President Tinubu for his signature in the coming days.
