The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has announced the appointment of Blessing Ekwe Chisalam as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Ms. Chisalam, a sports management expert, brings a wealth of experience and expertise into the job, having earned a master’s degree in sports management.

Her appointment comes at a critical time for Nigerian badminton, which has experienced significant growth at the grassroots, national, and international levels.

The sport has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing in the country, and the BFN is determined to build on this momentum.

According to the President of the BFN, Francis Orbih, in a statement on Thursday, Ms. Chisalam’s appointment is a key step in achieving this goal.

“We need someone who can project badminton with a positive image and align with our dreams and aspirations as a federation,” Orbih said.

“Ms. Blessing is highly competent, a sports scientist, with a master’s degree in sports management.

“She understands the physiology of the sports ecosystem, and her appointment will be instrumental in driving the growth of badminton in Nigeria.”

As COO, Ms. Chisalam will be responsible for expanding the BFN’s outreach, enhancing its programmes, improving administration, and creating more competitive opportunities for the federation.

With her extensive experience in administration, sports, and organization, she is expected to elevate Nigerian badminton’s operations, in line with the objectives of the National Sports Commission.
