Nigerians intending to perform the 2025 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, the Holy Land, will be required to pay between N8.3 million and N8.7 million as fares depending on their region, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced.

NAHCON in a statement it released on Monday said that 2025 Hajj pilgrims from Southern states will pay N8.7 million, while those from Borno and Adamawa zone will pay N8.3 million.

The commission’s Executive Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, said the Hajj fare was the result of thorough collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.

Usman expressed gratitude to the Presidency and the Forum of Executive Secretaries of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies, and Commissions.for their support.

He said: “The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), under the leadership of its Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, is pleased to announce the hajj fare for the 2025 season.

“The fare was announced sequel to the approval from the Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The 2025 Hajj fare for Borno and Adamawa zone’s intending pilgrims is N8.33 million.

“Similarly, the cost of the 2025 Hajj for intending pilgrims from the Southern states is N8.78 million, while intending pilgrims from the Northern zone will pay N8.46 million.”

According to him, NAHCON’s leadership, in collaboration with Malam Ameen Amshi, Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties, made efforts to keep the 2025 Hajj fare consistent with previous years’ rates.

“This modest effort on the fare was reached after extensive consultations to ensure inclusivity in this important decision-making process.

“For further details and breakdown of the fare, please visit the NAHCON website on nahcon.gov.ng or through States’ Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards,” he said.

NAHCON has faced intense public scrutiny in recent times following fraud allegations, sparking widespread debate and calls for transparency.

Persecondnews recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), on Tuesday,July 30, 2024, interrogated its past Chairman, Alhaji Jalal Arabi, over alleged mismanagement of N90 billion subsidy provided for the 2024 hajj exercise.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday, August 19, 2024, sacked Arabi and replaced him with Prof. Usman.
