The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued five-year-old Miracle Yakubu and arrested 46-year-old Nawaisi Abdullahi in connection with her alleged abduction.

SP. Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, said in a statement on Monday, titled “FCT Police Command Rescue Five-Year-Old Miracle Yakubu From Suspected Abductor, Arrest Suspect.”

It was busted on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 10:00 am when operatives from the Utako Police Division, working alongside local vigilantes, responded to a distress call.

The suspect was spotted walking with the child near the Mobil Filling Station along Jabi Expressway, heading toward an unknown destination.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Abdullahi had abducted the child from her mother, a local bean cake vendor in Utako Village, without her consent.

Fortunately, police operatives swiftly intervened, apprehending Abdullahi and rescuing the child.

The child has since been safely reunited with her relieved family.

The suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.

“The safety and security of all residents remain our top priority. We commend the swift response of our officers and the collaboration of local vigilantes in ensuring the safe return of the child,” said CP Olatunji Disu, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command.

Adeh reiterated the Command’s dedication to maintaining a safe and secure environment.

She said: “The FCT Police Command is committed to the safety of all residents. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.”

The Command also encouraged residents to utilise its emergency lines for immediate assistance in suspicious situations: 08032003913; 08061581938; 07057337653; and 08028940883.

It also noted that the successful rescue operation demonstrates the value of community vigilance and reinforces the FCT Police’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its residents.

The command has been making significant strides in combating child kidnapping in recent times, with a string of successful rescues and arrests.

Persecondnews recalls that the command had on December 8, 2024, rescued Hope Evans, a four-year-old boy who was reported missing on October 31, 2024, from Community Primary School, Azubie, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The command also apprehended Blessing Okoi, 31, for allegedly abducting Hope Evans.

Okoi allegedly used biscuits and eggs to lure Evans away from his school, then escaped from Port Harcourt to Abuja.

Investigations uncovered that Okoi’s motive for kidnapping Evans was to deceive her former lover into believing she had given birth to his child, as part of an elaborate scheme.
