Nottingham Forest continued their impressive run in the English Premier League, demolishing Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at the Molineux on Monday night.
The victory, which marked Forest’s 12th win of the season, was capped off by Taiwo Awoniyi’s stoppage-time goal, his first since February 2024.
Awoniyi’s emotional celebration, where he dropped to his knees in relief, was a testament to the striker’s perseverance amidst persistent injury concerns that have hampered his playing time and form.
The 27-year-old Nigerian striker sealed the win for Forest after James Ward-Prowse’s well-placed pass found him with the goal gaping.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood had earlier emphasized Forest’s dominance with their goals in the 7th and 44th minutes, respectively.
The win propelled Forest to an improbable third position on the table, level on points with Arsenal and four points ahead of Chelsea.
Forest’s relentless form has seen them win six consecutive Premier League matches, a streak that has earned them 40 points.
They now sit just six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.
With Awoniyi back on the scoresheet, Forest fans have plenty of reasons to stay optimistic as the season progresses.
