Following the Senate’s confirmation of his nomination by President Bola Tinubu, Prof. Abdullahi Usman now serves as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The confirmation of Usman’s nomination followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Sen. Abubakar Bello (APC-Niger North) on Thursday.

Persecondnews recalls that Tinubu nominated Usman for the Executive Chairman position of NAHCON on August 19, 2024, as announced by the then Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

The nomination was subsequently transmitted to the Senate for confirmation via letter.

Usman brings extensive expertise to his new role, having previously chaired the Kano State Pilgrims Board, where he successfully oversaw the largest contingent of state pilgrims in Nigeria.

Sen. Bello’s report, following the screening conducted by his committee, gave Usman a glowing endorsement, stating that he is well-deserving of the top spot at Nigeria’s premier Hajj organization.

An affirmative voice vote by Senate President Godswill Akpabio followed Usman’s confirmation.
