Nigerian celebrities celebrate veteran actor Aluwe as he turns 70

Nigerian celebrities, including Nollywood stars, have poured encomiums on veteran actor Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Aluwe, as he turns 70 today, October 10.

Tributes have been flowing from all corners of the entertainment industry for the comic icon who has graced Nigerian screens for decades with his talent and humour.

His son, fellow actor Sunkanmi Omobolanle, was among the first to celebrate the milestone, sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram.

Sunkanmi posted a picture of his father with the caption, “Happy 70th birthday, my very own pappy. 𝙺𝚒 𝚎 𝚙𝚎 𝚏𝚞𝚗 𝚖𝚒 𝚗𝚒 𝚊𝚜𝚎 𝙴𝚍𝚞𝚖𝚊𝚛𝚎. 𝙻𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚙𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚢 @pappyluwe,” expressing his admiration and gratitude for his father’s legacy and wishing him many more years.

Nollywood veterans such as Yemi Solade, Adebayo Salami, Sola Sobowale, and Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje) also joined in the celebration.

In his tribute, Adebayo Salami, fondly known as Oga Bello, congratulated Omobolanle for joining the prestigious league of septuagenarians.

He wrote, “Happy birthday to a fantastic living legend @pappyluwe. Welcome to the League of Septuagenarians. I celebrate you, my brother.”

Actor Yemi Solade shared his tribute, praising the veteran actor for his enduring impact on Nigerian comedy and cinema. “CHIEF SUNDAY OMOBOLANLE (M.O.N.), globally known and called ‘PAPPY LUWẸ̀’, one of Africa’s most talented actors and comedians, an evergreen legend is 70! You deserve all the happiness and joy!”

Solade’s words reflected the sentiments of many, evoking Aluwe’s iconic role in shaping Nigerian comedic cinema.

Sola Sobowale and Fausat Balogun also shared heartfelt messages, celebrating the actor’s immense contributions to the growth of the industry.

“Pa Aluwe is a treasure, and at 70, his legacy continues to inspire the younger generation of actors,” Sobowale said.

Madam Saje added:“He is more than just a colleague; he is family to many of us in Nollywood.”

In addition to the tributes from his colleagues, younger stars like Opeyemi Aiyeola and Kevin Ikeduba took to social media to shower praises on the veteran.

Aiyeola wrote, “Pa Aluwe, a legend and a father to all. Thank you for your decades of laughter and lessons. Happy 70th birthday!”

The celebration of Aluwe’s 70th birthday has been a joyful occasion, with fans joining celebrities in honouring the actor for his contributions to Nigerian entertainment.
