Reactions as Nasboi reunites Vector and MI on viral song, “Hunger Dey”

Nigerian skit maker turned music artiste, Nasboi, has once again made headlines, this time for an unexpected yet exciting collaboration that is taking over the airwaves.

His latest release, *Hunger Dey*, features two of Nigeria’s rap titans, Vector and MI Abaga—rivals who have long been at the centre of a heated rap supremacy debate.

The song has not only gone viral, but it has also reignited conversations around the long-standing feud between the two hip-hop heavyweights.

For years, Vector and MI have been involved in a lyrical battle for the crown of Nigeria’s best rapper, with their fans fuelling the rivalry through social media.

Both rappers have exchanged diss tracks in the past, intensifying the competition between their fanbases.

Despite this, Nasboi’s decision to feature them on the same track seems to have been a strategic move, capitalizing on the drama while showcasing their lyrical prowess on a single platform.

Since the release of *Hunger Dey*, fans have taken to social media to voice their opinions, with many hailing the collaboration as one of the most unexpected in recent Nigerian music history.

Vector’s fans have been quick to claim victory, with many arguing that his verse on the track overshadowed MI’s.

“Vector came in hard with bars for days. He owned the track. There’s no competition,” one fan wrote on Twitter, sparking debates across various platforms.

On the other hand, MI’s loyal followers are not backing down, with many dismissing claims that Vector outshined him on the track.

“MI is still the king of Nigerian rap. His flow and delivery on *Hunger Dey* were unmatched,” one fan posted.

This back-and-forth between both fanbases has only added fuel to the fire, as the song continues to trend and dominate discussions.

While some see the collaboration as a marketing tactic by Nasboi to boost the commercial success of the track, others believe the move may signify a possible reconciliation or at least a ceasefire between the two rap giants.

“Nasboi knew exactly what he was doing by bringing Vector and MI together. This is huge for Nigerian hip-hop,” a music analyst commented, noting that the collaboration could have long-term implications for the rap scene in Nigeria.

Per Second News caught up with Nasboi on Tuesday evening to discuss the trending song and the controversy surrounding it.

When asked about the fan reactions and the apparent reignition of the rivalry, Nasboi remained focused on the positive aspects of the collaboration.

“I’m just excited to have worked with two of Nigeria’s rap lords. That’s all that matters to me,” he said.

“For me, it wasn’t about who had the better verse, but about creating a track that resonates with the audience and brings these two greats together.”

Nasboi’s statement, however, hasn’t stopped fans from dissecting every bar and lyric in the song.

The rapper-turned-skit maker has managed to stir up enough buzz to keep *Hunger Dey* in the spotlight, with the song climbing the charts and dominating streaming platforms.

Music critics have also weighed in, with some applauding Nasboi for his bold move in uniting the two rivals.

“It’s rare to see two heavyweights like MI and Vector on the same track, especially given their history. Nasboi has managed to pull off something many thought was impossible,” a critic wrote.

However, some are sceptical about whether this collaboration signifies the end of the Vector-MI feud or if it’s just a temporary truce.

“This could be a sign of maturity from both artists, but we’ll have to wait and see if this leads to more collaborations or if the rivalry will flare up again,” another analyst noted.
