Iran shuts airspace as tensions rise in Middle East

1.2k

Iran has extended its airspace closure due to anticipated Israeli retaliation following Tuesday’s attack, with all flights grounded until 5 am Thursday.

The precautionary measure aims to ensure aviation security, according to the state news agency ISNA, citing a spokesman for the aviation authority.

Persecondnews recalls that on Tuesday night, Iran launched at least 180 missiles into Israel.

Israelis scrambled for bomb shelters as air raid sirens sounded and the orange glow of missiles streaked across the night sky.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the attack was in retaliation for the killings of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian general.

Three Israeli air bases and the headquarters of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad were the targets of the attack, according to Iran.
