The World Giving Index 2024 has ranked Nigeria third among African countries with the most generous populations.
Kenya takes the top spot in Africa and second place globally, while The Gambia and Liberia follow closely, securing second and fourth positions, respectively.
The Charity Aid Foundation’s (CAF) ranking highlights Kenya’s remarkable generosity, noting that the country’s impressive top spot is a testament to its resilient spirit, achieved despite facing significant economic challenges and high unemployment rates.
The report said: “As a nation with a young population, the high ranking on volunteering and the willingness.
“Kenyans’ actions around donating money also indicate how important it is to help with what one has.”
The report also revealed that 4.2 billion people gave money, time, or helped someone they didn’t know in 2022. This number represented 72% of the world’s adult population.
The top 10 countries with the most generous people in Africa are Kenya (2nd globally), The Gambia (4th globally), Nigeria (5th globally), followed by Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Ethiopia, Chad, and Libya.
