The Nigerian gospel music industry is in mourning following the sudden death of rising star Aduke Gold, who passed away on Monday night at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan after battling a protracted illness.

Gold’s death has left her fans and colleagues in shock, as she had been hopeful about overcoming her health challenges and continuing her music career.

Per Second News reliably gathered, despite her illness, Gold had informed some of her close friends that she was feeling better and would soon be back on her feet.

However, her condition took a turn for the worse, and despite the best efforts of doctors at UCH, she passed away, leaving her dreams unfulfilled.

Popular gospel singer Esther Igbekele announced Aduke Gold’s death early Tuesday morning on social media.

The announcement plunged the entire gospel music community into confusion and grief, as many struggled to come to terms with the loss.

Following the announcement, Gold’s colleagues and fans flooded social media with tributes and mournful messages.

Many described her as a talented and dedicated artist who had touched countless lives with her music. They also lamented the unfulfilled potential of a singer who had so much more to offer.

Gold and her challenges
Gold’s life was characterized by hardship from an early age. Orphaned at the age of four, she faced numerous challenges growing up, including a severe case of vertigo that caused her to faint frequently.

These experiences shaped her into a resilient individual who used her music to express her faith and perseverance.

In a recent interview, Gold spoke candidly about her struggles, saying, “If you are not ready to face industrial challenges, forget about greatness. I have been an orphan since age four. It was a serious experience one can hardly forget in life. I never had anyone to call my real father or mother.”

Gold also shared her experiences of abuse as a young woman, including rape and emotional and physical mistreatment.

Yet, despite these traumatic experiences, she remained steadfast in her faith, saying, “I may not be rich, but I have God. I use my life to appreciate God because, without Him, I am nothing.”

In the Nigerian gospel music industry, where she served as a beacon of hope for many who faced similar struggles, her death has left a deep void.

Her colleagues have pledged to keep her memory alive and honour the legacy she left behind.

As tributes continue to pour in, fans and fellow musicians are sharing their favourite memories of Gold, recalling her kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication to her craft.
